This role installs, maintains, and repairs commercial and residential building/structure components and systems by conducting inspections of and troubleshooting piping systems, identifying irregularities and existing and/or potential problems.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.Typical work assignments include:
- Conducting inspections and troubleshooting piping systems in order to identify irregularities and potential problems.- Assembling, installing, inspecting and repairing pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water and sanitary and storm drainage systems, oil and natural gas distribution systems, fire suppression systems and low pressure air according to specifications and plumbing codes.- Performing safety and preventative maintenance inspections of systems.- Setting up system routes, placing and cutting route openings, installing regulating devices and placing hangers for proper pitch and elevation. The incumbent is subject to emergency recall 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 52 weeks a year. Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired.Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:
Ability to perform the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT) Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair etc. Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (other than blueprint reading). Measurement and Layout Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment. TroubleshootingNational Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
