Dispatcher (Public Safety)

Operates two-way multi-channel emergency communications radio system and law enforcement computer databases. Secures sensitive confidential law enforcement information. Prioritizes multiple radio and telephone traffic to support law enforcement operations. Completes and interprets electronic criminal history searches. Uses and maintains various office equipment and computer software programs. Operates NCIC computer system and multi-channel emergency radio communications system. Disseminates accurate information, rules and regulations both orally and in writing. Communicates effectively through all available methods. Use of phone professionally to solve problems, gain information, and to interact with visitors, local Emergency response agencies, and park staff. Provides general information, explains policies and regulations in stressful situations, and diffuses volatile or aggressive behavior. Directs staff and visitors during emergency situations. Resolves customer service complaints. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-10/26/2020-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
experience using standardized dispatch operating systems, law enforcement databases, and computer-based telephone systems, identifying database and equipment issues, making decisions based on established operating manuals and procedures, implementing dispatch policies and past practices to isolate and solve commonly occurring technical problems with various hardware and software communications systems. You must include hours per week worked. To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualification by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
maintaining and updating dispatch system hardware and software applications; maintaining and updating dispatch law enforcement databases; drafting official correspondence; generating reports; training peers in dispatch center operations; troubleshooting situations to isolate and report reoccurring technical problems with various computer, radio and telephone systems, computer databases, and technical equipment used in the dispatch center; knowledge of emergency dispatch center standard operating procedures; knowledge of general agreements with other agencies; experience choosing the appropriate manual or guide and making minor adaptations of established procedures; making decisions that require the assessment of conflicting information, consideration of past practices, and alternatives. To qualify for this position at the GS-08 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualification by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
experience of computer operating systems, procedures, and diagnostic techniques to isolate and resolve unusual and difficult technical problems associated with dispatch center computer-based equipment and data systems; experience in obtaining and updating computer software licensees; writing and implementing emergency dispatch center standard operating procedures; knowledge and judgement to adapt existing operating manuals and established procedures to resolve unusual technical problems; experience as subject matter expert with dispatch center computer databases and technical systems; creating and presenting reports; working independently without close supervision; coordinating activities with other agencies; providing staff with technical assistance, advice, and support to law enforcement regarding a wide range of technical methods, principles, and policies on subjects such as:
homeland security, intelligence, physical security and administrative functions; solving operating problems that do not respond to standard procedures. Volunteer

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
